Decision-making at scale with wicked problem solving – Tom Wujec

A great presentation by Tom Wujec at the recent Miro Distributed 2020 Conference

Choose the right model and approach for the specific problem situation you have.” – good advice that many consultants would do well to heed. There are too many one-trick ponies out there!

Recently, I’ve been using Miro as a workshop facilitation resource and I’ve been thinking about the range of “playbooks” (as Tom calls them) that I typically use with clients. They include:

  • Problem solving
  • Decision-making
  • Prioritisation
  • Alignment
  • Situation assessment
  • Risk analysis
  • Requirements gathering
  • Action planning
  • Innovating
  • Stakeholder analysis
  • Lessons learnt
  • Solution design
  • Information sharing
  • Conflict resolution
  • System building

Miro has some great templates to get you started and I have been adopting and adapting many of these for my own client situations.
