PRINCE2 – “global best practice”, or not?

Project-Miracle-Benefits 2I was sent a link today by Kevin Lonergan of PMIS to their latest blog article: 10 reasons why Prince2 is not even close to “best practice” and thought it worth sharing.  It’s a well-argued piece and reflects many of my own views and why I am much more of a supporter of the Association for Project Management‘s approach.  In a nutshell, there is much more emphasis on the leadership and change management aspects of managing successful projects in the APM approach.  If I’m blunt, why would anyone choose a methodology that originated in public sector IT projects (however much it might have been “updated”)?  It’s not somewhere you’d generally look for “world class” project management, is it?
