Engaging employees to increase ROI

My colleague Roger Davies (GazellaHR) and I obviously think alike.  His latest newsletter focuses on Employee Engagement and Return on Investment.  By a spooky coincidence, that’s exactly what I wrote about last week.

Roger is currently working with a client to develop an Employee Forum to increase ROI by improving communication and engagement, especially between departments. His latest blog also provides a link to Engage for Success.

The evidence for ROI from engaged employees has always been there, in my opinion; it’s just that Finance Departments aren’t usually geared up to measure it and HR Departments are even less able to prove the ROI to the business.  It’s not therefore surprising to hear FDs continuing to say things like “what happens if we train them and then they leave?”  The correct response, of course, is “what if we don’t train them and they stay?“.
