Crisis management is not normally a topic I’d blog about, but I found the following Slideshare presentation really interesting.
It provides a timeline of what happened after the recent San Francisco ‘plane crash. Two things stand out:
- The first tweet and photo was sent within 30 seconds of the crash
- Asiana Airlines’ (whose ‘plane it was) first press release was 8 hours after the crash
The challenge question at the end of the presentation is: “What’s your 20 second PR strategy?” and I’m sure that is of relevance in many more situations than major crises.
