In my Project skills workshops I often run an exercise where I challenge people to identify at least 30 different communication tools they could use in a project. I ask them to think about the continuum of communication objectives ranging from “Raise Awareness” to “Get Buy-in & Commitment”. They are also asked to consider the suitability of each tool in relation to the complexity of the messages being communicated.
The picture below shows about 50 different ideas from a recent workshop. So, please don’t resort to “sending an e-mail” and assume that your communication job is done!
