Our Project Management Capabilities

We have summarised below some examples of the types of support we provide in the area of Project Management.

Project capabilities

Our Project Management Capabilities

Developing PM Capability:

• Designing scalable PM lifecycle models (based on PRINCE2 or otherwise), with supporting tools and techniques (including delivery “toolkits”)

• Delivering PM skills workshops to support existing (or newly created) PM approaches (almost always using “experiential” workshops where people learn the skills by working on their own, real, live projects)

• Designing and facilitating workshops for deployment of PM “best practices” (by helping project teams identify how those practices can/should be applied to their own projects)

Delivering on projects:

• Providing project management support to line managers, to help them define and scope projects

• Facilitating projects to ensure they stay on track and achieve the necessary momentum

• Coaching line managers who are in PM roles, to enable them to drive their own projects

Information & Reporting:

• Establishing proportionate governance and reporting systems to enable programmes and projects to report progress and to give senior managers confidence in what each project is achieving

• Coaching project office staff to develop reporting systems

• Coaching project office staff to help them provide facilitation support to project managers and teams

Reviewing and Improving PM:

• Working with Programme/Project Office teams to develop approaches to help the organisation develop more effective PM capabilities (e.g. through a balance of communications, education, learning events, facilitation, coaching and “pilot” projects)

Our consultants’ experience has included work in the following sectors:

• Government Agencies/Public Bodies (e.g. DoH, IIP(UK), Food Standards Agency, YJB)

• Media (e.g. BBC)

• Facilities Management/Construction (e.g. BAA, Amey)

• Manufacturing (e.g. Leaderflush Shapland, SP Systems)

• Voluntary Sector (e.g. Julian Housing)
